The June 22nd party was a big success bringing many items for soldiers. However, our Troops still need YOU to donate items (for questions e-mail Ms. Wiesbrook at: woesbrooks@comcast.net ). Our U.S. Troops still need: plain sunglasses, non perishable food items that travel well (no gelly candies, chocolate, etc)... also, soldiers are asking for magazines (even old ones would work): muscle/workout, cars, guns/weapons... also, sunscreen, pain relievers, powdered drink packs, wet wipes, foot & body powder... this is an ongoing need and they need YOUR HELP both NOW and long term. Please see address and link below or click here!

Original Story:
Geriann Wiesbrook, of Joliet, is turning 50 this month, and she knows exactly what she wants for gifts. She’s asking for as many donations as she can muster to send to U.S. troops serving in Afghanistan. Nonperishable items such as dry shampoo, wet wipes, packaged foods and personal hygiene items are especially sought. She’ll even share some family barbeque and birthday cake with those who join the party on Saturday, June 22, from 2 – 5 p.m.
“I don’t think people realize that the need is as desperate as it is over there,” Wiesbrook said. “Getting boxes and even just cards is a really big deal to them.”
Wiesbrook is from a military family. Her mother and father met in the U.S. Navy, and she has had several other family members serve, including her brother in Iraq. A nephew served in Somalia and Afghanistan, and he is currently serving at Camp Lejeune NC.
Lastly, Mrs. Wiesbrook would like citizens to understand that it costs $100-per-box to ship donated items to our troops. If people have the means, monetary donations to help with postage, would also be greatly appreciated.
